Defining the right prayer

I asked before..."What are you praying for?"  Sometimes we find that we can't answer that question because we are clouded and foggy on what we really want. God wants us to be people of mission and vision. He wants us to be successful and conquerors.

Therefore, we need to defines what we want, what success looks like, so we will know what specifically to pray for. Define success in your life. This is an important exercise for anyone, but especially for the believer. You don't want to find that you have been praying for something when all along God has something else in store for you. That leads to frustration and aggravation...believe me, I have been there. However, God promises to make His plans known to His people and I think as we soul search over our own definition, the Holy Spirit will clue us in and move in our hearts to reveal just where God wants to take us.

Do the best you can with what you have where you are -- Success is not circumstantial. We usually focus on what we're doing or where we're going, but God's primary concern is who we're becoming in the process. We talk about doing the will of God, but the will of God had much more to do with "being" than "doing." It's not about being in the right place at the right time; it's about being the right person, even when you find yourself in the wrong circumstances. Success has nothing to do with how gifted you are or what resources you have. It has everything to do with glorifying God in any and every situation.

If you don't have a personal definition of success, chances are you will succeed at the wrong thing. You'll get to the end of your life and realize that you defined success wrong. You need to pray over the goals and successes God wants you to go after, the promises He wants you to claim, and the dreams He wants you to pursue. Once you define it, you need to pray on it.  And once you've prayed on it...pray on it again.
