God said...I promise I am in control

I have never, notone time in my life, trusted God and regretted it. But I could fill pages with stories of the times when I've doubted God and made bad choices. God has never let me down! His sovereignty has always been at work. You don't have to be worried about whether you can trust Him. God will be faithful to Himself and to His promises.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths."

God promises us that He is always in control. Therefore we don't have to fear and we don't have to doubt. But the reality of life leaves us fearful and doubting... our eyes see only our suffering, circumstances and the unlikely chance things will shift in our favor. But revisit Proverbs 3:5-6 again...
It tells us to trust the Lord with all our hearts. It doesn't tell us to trust our eyes and what we can see.... or our hands and what we can feel... or in this reference, it doesn't even tell us to trust our minds and what makes sense. It tells us to trust our heart.

Now, other scripture tells us to put God's word and promises in our hearts... so if we do that, if we are piling up God's promises to us in our hearts, we can trust our heart -- meaning, those promises -- in those moments that see to much for us.

Proverbs also tells us to not lean on our own understanding... That means what we think is right, what we think we can work out and what we think might happen is not enough to lean on. Our vision, our ability and our resources are so limited, leaning on anything we have in our toolbox would leave us falling flat. But if we lean on God's promises...those never fail us.

Doubt is a lack of confidence or assurance that God will keep His promises. Faith is an active confidence that God's promises are always true.

When we believe that God is in control, we can live by faith. The Christian way is a life of faith. In order to hold on to the promises of God,  you've got to believe them and live by them. But when the world throws curve balls at you, how can we stand by and believe God is in control. When bombs blow up and injure innocent runners, when children are shot to death while learning cursive writing at school, when parents hurt their children.... when bad things happen, how can we believe that God is in control?

Look up the verses below that speak of God's power and sovereign control:
**Acts 17:24-30
**Ephesians 1:11
**Hebrews 6:18-19
**Psalm 37

What assurance do you see in these scriptures? How do the different ways God protects and provides for us described in these verses strengthen your faith in His ability to be in control?

Commit the following verse to memory so that you can be reminded that God promises He is in control.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
