God said....I promise to be victorious

Isaiah 54:17 -- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgement you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me," says the Lord.

Although I am not a sports person, I think there are a lot of life lessons that can be drawn from sports. Game after game, athletes take the field not knowing what the outcome will be. If they lose or if they win..... they do not know when the game begins.

Follow me for a second..... Do you think the team would play differently if they knew before the game started that it was a guaranteed victory? Would they play with more confidence, more boldness, more power?  Would it inspire them to play with passion? Or do you think they would rest on their laurels and coast to the finish line?

As Christians, we have been promised a guaranteed win. God promises to always be victorious and in turn, we are victorious. But how we chose to play the game is up to us.... does knowing we get the win in the end propel us to play with greatness or does it give us excuse to just play through the motions.

The thing for us to remember is that God is going to be victorious in the end no matter what we chose to do. But it's because of His love for us that He made a way for us to be on His winning team.

That is ultimately the greatest promise God makes to us..... the promise that we can be victorious with Him if we chose to join his team. John 3:16 is another verse that proves this promise...

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that who so ever believes in Him will not perish but have ever lasting life."

The promise is that we can have eternal life by simply choosing to believe in Him and what His Son did for us... His Son, Jesus, who died for us so that we can have the eternal life promised.

The ultimate promise is what makes the rest of God's promises possible.
